Jararacussu is another poisonous snake that can be easily found in Brazil, Paraguay, Bolivia, Argentina and surroundings. It is commonly known as Bothrops Jararacussu. Snake bites are an important public health problem in developing countries with most bites occurring in rural areas. Occuring in eastern and southern Africa, this extremely thin arboreal snake has a strong haemotoxic venom with similar symptoms to that of the boomslang but which is not neutralized by the boomslang-specific antivenom. The Cameroon Society of Epidemiology, CasE, is currently undertaking a one-year national survey of the incidence of snake bites in the country. As a matter of fact, the Bothrops Jararacussu is one of the top 10 most dangerous snakes in the world. Among the ten provinces in Cameroon, the southwest province recorded the highest number of venomous snakes. Severe envenomation often occurs in children and following bites to the face.
