China is responsible for killing 10million dogs for human consumption each year. This unfortunate canine ended up roasted on a spit, with what appears to be a kind of blow torch, visible on the right. In China, dog meat is a delicacy and tougher meat is considered tastier. Dog is eaten is some regions of China, though not everywhere, and Yunnan has its fair share of dog dishes. TEN puppies have been rescued from a wet market in China where they would have been slaughtered and roasted despite their "companion status". The most infamous example of the stomach-churning practice is the Yulin Dog Festival in China where thousands of lovable beasts are slaughtered and eaten… Animal activists saved the dogs … Traders at wet markets flog canned meat, dog sausages, roasted legs — … In China dog is a delicacy and unlike in the Western world tougher meat is considered tastier.
Whatever our moral standpoint on such issues, this happens. Consequently, traders deliberately kill animals in the most torturous ways to fill their bodies with adrenaline.
