At first I thought it was the Splendid Utility, but I've ruled that out. I just purchased a new ASUS Zenbook UX330UA-AH54 13.3-inch laptop.
So I have the BenQ XL2430T 144hz monitor and it was running fine, until I played unravel which kept changing the screen brightness every time I died, and after that happened the monitor decided that each time there is a black screen, be it during a movie, game or anything else that causes a black screen the monitor decides to turn the brightness way down.

I got a Sony Computer about a year ago and it's been randomly changing my brightness out of no where. Is my display potentially defective? HP 255 G5. Generally it moves it two below whatever I set it as and then changes it back to whatever I have set it on.
