In some of her best-known works Carr depicted both totem poles and towering trees with a reverential eye. Carr was born in Victoria, British Columbia in 1871. Emily Carr is considered to be a major Canadian artist for her depiction of the landscapes of Pacific Northwest and its aboriginal culture.
